I’ve always loved the beautiful designs of stamps, the stories they tell and the history imbued in them, and collected them in my childhood. Whilst cleaning up my room last summer I looked through some of my stamps-in-waiting (stamps that are still stuck on the original envelopes) and found a treasure trove from the Christmases of ’98 and ’99. Lots of them have a little metallic glint to them, especially the ones that feature angels, and I thought they’d work beautifully as butterfly wings.

Each of these teeny things is inspired by Michael Lafosse’s butterflies and each one is unique.

12 used stamps dating back to Christmas 1998 and 1999; including Christmas Angels and Millennium Series: The Christian’s Tale | Latest edition of the local newspaper | Michael Lafosse, diagrammed in “Origami Butterflies”
